BIO:

Dexter needs a quiet home where he can be king of the hill, he needs a family that is willing to let him come around at his own pace.

Dexter is a very sweet natured loving little guy. He is calm and friendly once he gets accustomed to his surroundings. He is always there to greet you with a happy tail wag and a smile on his pretty face. He loves to lay in your lap ad get his belly rubbed and happily follows you around to help you do anything you might be doing. He loves to play and loves to play with foster moms dogs and cats. He gets along great with everyone in the house. He is a smart little fellow and will happily sit for a treat, which he will take it so very gently from your hand. If you want a loving little 10lb companion, who will adore you and brighten your life, then Dexter just might be the boy for you. If you would like to know more about this special little guy, please fill out an application and put his name on it. He will bring a lot of joy into someone’s life, could it be yours?

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
