Winnie came to us from a small shelter where she was turned in by her owners. She is a very sweet girl, loves a lap to keep you and her warm. Gets along with all the other dogs here both male and female. She quite happy to sleep in a doggie bed all night but first thing in the morning she wants her breakfast and she’ll let you know that too.

She does fine in a crate when you go away, just give her a treat or a raw hide and she’s a happy camper.  Winnie is happy and small enough to take her with you in a doggie carrier/doggie purse and she’d love that.

Winnie has quite the personality, spunky but also friendly.

If you want a lively girl that has personality plus and is small enough to take with you or does fine with strangers when traveling then Winnie is the dachshund for you. Very easy to get along with and easy to train.

You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $35 Fee for the required Health Certificate.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteer that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
