BIO:  MEET LENNY!

Leonard was picked up by AADR at a local TN shelter.

What a SWEET, HANDSOME boy Mr. Leonard is.

He is COMPLETELY house broken to a doggie door & will actually whine to go outside if he can’t get to the doggie door. Lenny LOVES his foster dad & tends to prefer him over his foster mom – he doesn’t mind his foster mom but prefers his foster dad’s lap during couch time. In true doxie form, Lenny LOVES to burrow under the covers anyway and anywhere he can. He is fine sleeping in a doggie bed at night, but much prefers a big bed with his family. He is great on a leash & LOVES to go for daily walks around the yard.

We do not think Lenny was taught many boundaries prior to coming to his foster home as he likes to climb on things, and beg for people food. He is learning to wait for his dinner and take treats gently from your hands. He is a very fast learner, and we figure in no time he will be the perfect southern gentleman. Lenny would do best in a doxie savy home that knows how to teach him that he is not the boss – a squirt bottle works Great! Lenny needs a home where there are no children, he prefers to be the baby of the house. He will chase a cat to play so if you have a cat make sure your cat is willing to play with him.

Lenny just needs time & patience to adjust to life where he is not the boss. He is a quick learner and in no time he will catch on.

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $35 Fee for the required Health Certificate.

Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options.  If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an Application. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteer that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
