HAVEN came from the same breeder that Gunner and Carly came from so she will need to be socialized. She is very sweet and once she warms up to you she is fine it just takes her time to warm up. Remember the breeder was the only life she knew so now she's going to have to learn to be a pet. Usually once they start to learn that it doesn't take them long. She is young so she'll catch on fast to being spoiled. She does know how to use the dogie door and gets along with all the other dogs here in foster care. We don't know about cats, don't think she's ever been exposed to them. Children over 12 would be fine but not a busy busy household as it may tend to make her too nervous. She has has all her shots, heartworm test and negative and a fresh dental. She ready to take on the world. Do you want to be the center of her world??
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangments to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

More about HAVEN...IL

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
