Scooby was rescued from the small community of Lewisburg, TN where he wandered up to a home way out in the country along with his friend Shaggy.

They were both very frightened at first but were hungry and that’s how the owners and rescue were able to catch them to get them into rescue. They have come a long way since almost a month ago. He will now allow you to catch him and is getting more trusting every day. He will need someone that’s willing to work with him and gain his trust and show him that people are not bad and can be trusted. He is very, very sweet, not aggressive at all to anything or anybody. He just needs work with socialization and is doing very well in his foster home. He is treat motivated so would do well with good training. HE loves to go for walks and does very well on a leash. He really needs a fenced in yard with another well adjusted dog that can show him the ropes. If you are looking for a short coated beauty that has a gentle nature and you’re willing to be patient than this is the little boy for you. He will give you years of love and devotion. Apply today.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog(s) via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog(s) or for them to go by ground transport. If the dog (s) is shipped by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $35 fee for the required Health Certificate.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
