Bio:

We don't know anything about Rosie before she came into rescue except she was given up by her owner in the norht.

Rosie needs to be an only dog with a fenced in yard. She is completely house broken and also crate trained. She does not care for her crate but will go in it when the foster family goes away. If left out she is fine. She sleeps in the big bed and sleeps through the night. 

Rosie does not like strangers BUT if the stranger let's her take her time and come to the stranger on Rosie's time she is fine. Rosie just can not be pushed. She is food aggressive with other dogs but not people. But for that reason Rosie needs to be an only dog. 

We are looking for a home where someone will understand Rosie's special issues and willing to accept Rosie for who she is not who she won't be. IF you are looking for one dog, have a fenced in yard and a desire to love Rosie please contact her foster mom for more info. 

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
