SANDY was given up by her owner cause she was working long hours and didn't feel it was fair to Sandy to keep her crated for 12-14 hours per day. SANDY is a happy little girl and love to give kisses. Her tail never stops wagging. She loves dogs, cats, and kids just everybody. Besides giving kisses she likes to play too and has her favorite little bear that she takes with her. She is housetrained to puppy pads but it wouldn't take much to teach her to go outside if you used treats for positive behavior. Sandy DOES NOT shed. She also has a cute overbite!! WE WILL NOT SHIP OUR DOGS CARGO, TOO MANY HORROR TALES HAVE HAPPENED FOR US TO FEEL COMFORTABLE DOING THIS. IF WE CAN'T TRANSPORT BY LAND THEN YOU'LL HAVE TO FLY TO THE CITY THAT THE DOG IS BEING FOSTERED IN TO GET HIM/HER. Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard or down to FLORDIA. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Keep in mind that we are all volunteers and have other obligations so please let your references and vet know that we will be calling to vai all info that you put on your application. If you use two vets then please let us know that so we get all info on your dog possible to determine if you are a suitable home for our dog. If you do not let us know these things this maybe the factor that you will be turned down to adopt one of our dogs.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
