BIO:
His name says it all! This is one handsome little man! He was rescued from a shelter when his daddy, who got him in a divorce, didn’t have time for him anymore. He worked 12 hour days and just didn’t have time for him. Fabio is a sweet little guy who gets along great with other dogs and lets everyone he meets pet him. He is a red dapple. That means he has a red coat but has darker spots that blend in with the lighter red coloring to make him a handsome dude! He is housetrained and loves to be loved on. He just puts his head right on your chest and looks up at you with those two loving little dachshund eyes. He would be a great inside dog and would do great in a home by himself or with other dogs. I have three doxies and he gets along great with all of them. He has just started playing with my boy doxie and they play so well together. Fabio is a great dog and would be a great pet for anyone who wants a dachshund to love! He just wants a home with someone who has time for him and will give him lots of love!

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
