BIO:
Cosmo was dropped off at a shelter along with his litter-mate Coco by their original owner because they pestered a pet miniature goat. Despite being left outside since birth, Cosmo is a very affectionate and adapted immediately to his new surroundings and dog family. He learned to use the doggy door within an hour of his arrival, but still needs to be reminded what the door is for. With a little encouragement and leadership from his new dachsie friends, he willingly goes out to do his business. He follows his new people around and is very content to sit on a lap or curl up on a doggie bed or chair. He is easy going around his food bowl and is generally a very laid back boy. He greets strangers with a quiet dignity and is an overall “perfect” dog that will be a wonderful addition to any family. Cosmo is a little larger than the average mini-dachshund and his coat color is unusually beautiful. Please give Cosmo a loving forever home. He is star material.
More about Cosmo...NC
Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
