We are thrilled to offer one of the happiest, friendliest AND quite beautiful dachshunds ever! Shelby is so happy, she just doesn’t wag her tail, she wags her whole body---just because she loves her people and everybody she meets so much! She gets along with everybody, including her foster siblings (male and female), men, women, kids and CATS!

Shelby is housetrained but we recommend positive reinforcement when she transitions to her forever home to encourage the continuation of her good house manners.  We foster moms/dads are committed to “full disclosure” about all of our dogs and it’s our job to make potential adopters aware of the personality of each dog, including areas where work is needed. But, with Shelby, we can honestly say there’s nothing much to do but ENJOY her and SPOIL her rotten!!!  Shelby is truly a jewel and will bless you for a lifetime! Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If transporting by volunteers through our organization or a commercial transporter, a $35 fee for the Health Certificate must be added to the adoption fee.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
