George was turned over to us by a good Samaritan that found him as a stray and tried to find his owners but to no avail. You can tell he was well taken care of and well fed had not been a stray long he just wandered up in her garage one day and decided he liked it but they could not keep him because he didn’t like their cats. George is a very mellow kinda guy. Caught on to the doggie door very quickly maybe had had one in his previous life. Gets along with all the dogs here. He was get with their 3 yr old daughter so kids that are used to dachshunds would be fine. We do think he needs a fenced in yard to play in and another dachshund as a companion. He is also crate trained. If you are interested in this handsome boy please do fill out an application to adopt. He will get a fresh dental before he goes on to his new home.
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.
If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $35 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.
More about GEORGE...TN
Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
