BEING FOSTERED IN NASHVILLE, TN
SHORTIE 1 came from the same owner surrender that VALERIE did in AL. Was gotten for a friend and then the friend didn't want them or so the story goes. SHORTIE was very timid when he first came here but wags his tail all the time with the other dogs. He has started to settle in and is getting better daily. He is housebroken to a doggie door. We think he just needs to be socialized and his new home will need to take him to pet stores and parks to get him around strangers so he knows that people are good and not be be feared. As he is here longer he is getting sweeter and sweeter and really loves to be held and loved on. He will make someone a wonderful pet. We were told that he was papertrained and we have a doggoe door and he's using it so to finish up his house training probably the crate method would work best. He is very eagar to please. He is UTD on all shots and heartworm negative and on Interceptor and Frontline. If you are interested in knowing more about SHORTIE 1 please e mail us for more info. WE WILL NOT SHIP OUR DOGS CARGO, TOO MANY HORROR TALES HAVE HAPPENED FOR US TO FEEL COMFORTABLE DOING THIS. IF WE CAN'T TRANSPORT BY LAND THEN YOU'LL HAVE TO FLY TO THE CITY THAT THE DOG IS BEING FOSTERED IN TO GET HIM/HER. Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard or down to FLORDIA. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interest in a rescue. To fill out an application for this dog please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an app. we will be in touch shortly to do a phone interview. It is also best to have a dog in mind that you would like to adopt or if you don't please let us know that you'd like a dog that best fits your lifestyle. Keep in mind that we are all volunteers and have other obligations so please let your references and vet know that we will be calling to vai all info that you put on your application. If you use two vets then please let us know that so we get all info on your dog possible to determine if you are a suitable home for our dog. If you do not let us know these things this maybe the factor that you will be turned down to adopt one of our dogs.
More about SHORTIE1....SC
Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
