BARRON came from a small town in AL where he was turned into the shelter with MISSY as the owners were moving into a smaller place and couldn't take thier dogs. BARRON is very sweet and loving. He just wants to be with his people but is also fine with other male and female dogs. Cats are ok too. We aren't sure about small children but if they know how to treat an animal then we'd say he is ok with them too. We would not suggest babies under 3yrs. He is UTD on all shots and heartworm negative and on Interceptor and Frontline. He does appear to be housebroken and we think would be fine separated from MISSY as long as there was another dog in the household. Please e mail if you'd like more info on BARRON.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
