BIO:

Beany is a 1 year old, happy little dachshund mix that was taken to the local shelter with his brother Cecil.  Because Beany and Cecil are a bonded pair they were not adopted and slated for euthanasia.   A rescuer pulled the pair from the shelter and promised to find them a home where they could stay together.  Beany was diagnosed with heartworms and has been treated and is in excellent health now. Beany is crate trained and loves to curl up on the couch with his brother Cecil and foster mom. He gets along with the other dogs in the house but does enjoys chasing the cats--he doesn’t want to hurt them, just thinks it is fun to chase them.  He is learning basic manners on his leash- loves going for rides in the car and running and playing with his brother Cecil.

Beany and Cecil have a special bond with each other, when not together they have separation anxiety (especially Cecil) and become very uncomfortable.  They are not actually litter mates, but it is obvious they have been together since Beany was a young puppy.   We are looking for a special family that will adopt both these wonderful young boys so they can stay together.

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $35 fee for the Health Certificate required.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
