BIO (11/5/2016):

Daisy aka Reece was adopted from AADR 5 years ago and was recently returned because her owner could no longer care for her.  She is a little timid, but it doesn't take long to gain her trust.  Daisy is a long, sleek, little, black and tan girl with a small dappled white patch on her chest.  She recently had her teeth cleaned and lost several, but has no trouble eating dry food that has been softened in water.  Once she heals she will be able to eat dry food.  Daisy is full of energy and is in very good health.

Daisy walks nicely on a leash and loves to go on walks and explore the dog park.  She is very excited when we see squirrels and cats, so hold on tight!  She gets along well with the other dachshunds in her foster home and often curls up in a dog bed with another dog.  Daisy is content to hang out in a sunny spot or on a lap.  She has not been around cats, but she can be introduced to some if needed.  Daisy would be fine with older children who understand that they must be gentle with her and respect her space.  At night she sleeps quietly in her crate until morning, but would be happy to sleep with her people too.  Daisy will sit when asked and comes when she hears her name.  If she needs to go outside she will come and let you know.  If left for extended periods, like when foster mom is at work, Daisy will use a pee pad if needed.

If you are looking for a pretty, devoted little friend, Daisy is your girl.  Please check out our adoption process at allamericandachshundrescue.org.   If you have questions about Daisy, please contact her foster mom at ksioui@hotmail.com.

More about Daisy aka Reece....IL

Good with Dogs, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
