BIO:

MEET JACK

Temperament/personality:

Jack is a happy fun-loving little man!!!! He wants to be near his humans & part of the pack. Things to note:

• Jack is full of himself, life, and energy.

• He has TONS of energy and would be best in a home with another canine brother or sister that will play with him.

• He is a very vocal doxie. He loves to “talk” when he plays.

• Jack tends to bark when he can see you and wants to get to where you are, (i.e.…when we are outside of his fenced area & he wants to hang with us).

• Jack is WONDERFUL with children of all ages as long as they are respectful of him.

• He knows how to use a dog door and enjoys the freedom it offers

• Jack loves his chew bones & toys. He is completely out of his puppy chewing stage so that is a major plus!! He only chews on toys that he is provided.

• He loves to be snuggled and loved on; he gives kisses in return

History:

Jack came to our rescue from a family in AL that could no longer care for him. They were too overwhelmed and knew the best thing to do was to place Jack in a rescue where we could find him the home that he SO deserves. You can tell Jack was very well socialized and is not scared of anything, but he also was never taught many manners.

Training:

• Jack is learning to come to his name. Although at this point he still isn’t attached to his name and will not come when called by it. But will come bounding as quickly as can be to a whistle.

• He has learned that he has to be clam & patiently wait on his treats like a good boy.

• He doesn’t know a lot of other commands yet but he is quick to learn

• Jack does have accidents in the house occasionally. Many of these occur when it is raining or cold outside. We continue to praise him for going outside to do his business.

• He will beg for table food, but he NEVER gets any. We are working on his begging with a squirt bottle & he is quickly figuring it out.

• He tends to want to bolt out the front door when it is open. We are working on this everyday, but his new home will also have to continue this training in order for him to not bolt out an open door.

Best environment for Jack:

• The company of other dogs (he’s fine with bigger dogs or smaller dogs and different breeds). Jack would be too lonely without another dog companion. He would not make a good only dog.

• KIDS, he loves both my sons (9 & 7) and daughter (2)

• A yard to roam in

• A big bed to sleep in

If you feel you can give Jack the home he so deserves please fill out an adoption application.

More about JACK...PA

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
