UPDATE -
A HOME WITH NO MEN AND NO OTHER DOGS IS A MUST FOR ANGEL4
We do have her on meds to calm her..
Hi it’s me Angel. I have been with my foster mom for several weeks now and she says I should let people know more about me. She says maybe someone will want me for their own if they know me a little better.
There are two important things a potential adopter should know about me. First, I am still so very scared. Second, but the most important thing is that I am a pampered princess. I don’t know what happened to my crown, or why I was taken from my castle, but I miss them terribly and hope to find a new castle soon. I love my foster mom, she makes me feel safe. She understands that I am a princess and I love her for it. However, she has lots of other dogs and a husband. I don’t care much for the other dogs in the house, or for my foster dad. He’s nice, but I just don’t trust men and will do better in a home without men. Some of the dogs here are nice, but my ideal castle would have either no dogs, or maybe a nice senior dog, one that is not too active. A princess should have a nice quite castle after all.
As a pampered princess, I am used to getting my own way and come with a lot of issues. I have been working on them, but will require some on going training. My potty training is going well. I have also learned to sit and come. I say a princess should be allowed to do as she pleases, but my foster mom says differently, so we are also working on house manners. I enjoy my training because I get lot of treats, and I really thrive with one on one attention.
My ideal owner would be a very patient, committed, and experienced dachshund owner, who is willing to continue my training, and spoil me rotten with lots of toys, treats and trips to the pet store for more toys and treats. Oh, I almost forgot, I do prefer a nice fluffy bed of my own, and maybe a nice jeweled collar. I visited a house with cats recently, and barked at them way too much. I thought it was great fun, but my foster mom says I should probably go to a castle without cats. Even though I’m doing well with the children I have met, because of my fears, and my sense of entitlement, I shouldn’t go to a home with children either. My foster mom says that with time, patience, and training I’m going to be the world’s best dog. She’s right of course. Are you looking for a princess of your own to pamper?

From Angel -

Wow, what a day! I have been so scared at that shelter. I was in a run with three other dogs and we talked about what was going to happen to us. They didn't know any more than I did. The really bad thing is that I was there before. I went home with some people but they brought me back. They said I was scared of things. Well, of course I was scared. Who wouldn't be? Today I really lucked out. I heard them mention rescue but I didn't know that it was my ticket to a happy life - or that's what my new foster mom told me. I'm back in a home. There are more dogs here than I like to have around. I'd rather foster mom carry me everywhere but she says the others have to have a turn. I don't know why.
Please, please, look at me and see if you think I could come live with you. I don't want to have to keep moving around - it's just too stressful for me.

Is Not Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
