DeeDee was surrendered to a shelter in Tennessee with back issues.  It seems that she was a breeder dog and lived her life in a crate.  She had back surgery and it was very successful.  She sometimes walks a bit “crooked": but she is a very happy and loving little dog.  She loves everything about her new life!  She loves to run and play in the creek.  She loves car rides and kisses.   She is truly special.  She sometimes is a bit too enthusiastic; when she meets a new dog she want to jump on it and kiss it- sometimes they do not like this.  She does the same with cat so would need to be introduced slowly as some cats do not like dog running and jumping on them` but she is just so excited about everything.  Dee will sit on your lap and kiss you forever.   Since she had back issues and was crate bound she needs to be on a set scheduled for pottying.  I have found if I am consistent- she is consistent.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
