FOSTER HOME Stephanie smburmei@comcast.net

Amos was rescued from a local animal shelter where he was found as a stray. He’s a sweet, handsome boy and we have no idea why anybody would let him out of their sight. We will say that Amos has shown an interest in “escaping” his fenced yard, so we recommend his new home is prepared to keep an eye on him until he learns where ‘HOME” is and to make sure your fence is secure for him! His foster home has a wrought iron fenced that is reinforced with mesh at the bottom and he’s tried the strength of the mesh and to see if he can slip out. His mom tells him “NO” and he politely comes away from the fence. We think this is why he ended up at the shelter!

Amos is now microchipped, neutered, and up-to-date on all vaccines. He is a sweet, laid-back boy with a gentle, but playful, temperament and is enjoying playing with his foster siblings. He walks well on a leash and is good with both his foster mom and dad. He seems to have no “issues” and should be fine with well mannered children that know how to respect a small dog. Amos is doing very well with his housetraining manners and should adjust nicely to a new home that will enforce his good behavior with rewards—such as TREATS! He’s a sweet boy and is content to curl up in a doggie bed when all the lap space is taken and naps quietly in a crate while his mom must be away.

If you have any questions or want more pictures, email his foster mom, Stephanie: smburmei@comcast.net   THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE!

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If transporting by volunteers through our organization or a commercial transporter, a $35 fee for the Health Certificate must be added to the adoption fee.

Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options.  If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an Application.

More about AMOS...PA

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
