Chipper is a cute little red guy that just wants some love and attention. He came into foster when someone dumped him and his two brothers and one sister in the night drop box at the shelter. All four dogs were severely malnourished and had kennel cough; however after about 3 days with some good food and meds, Chipper is raring to go although he has not been able to play with the other dogs due to his kennel cough.

Chipper is very curious, loves to play, run, and lay in the sun. We had some difficulty with his age but we are putting him about 2-3 years, even though he still acts like a puppy. Since he is so new to foster, I will update this as I get to know Chipper more and see how he reacts with the other dogs in the house. I know he will make a great watchdog, as his bark is very deep and he sounds like a big dog. He is not a big barker, but certainly lets you know when he hears something unusual.

More about Chipper...FL

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
