MACY came from a shelter in Louisiana where we figure she was dumped by a puppymill for reasons we’ll never know but we do know that was her lucky day. She is a happy happy girl, not shy very friendly. She will do well with a high energy family that likes to run, jog because she’ll be right there with you. She definitely needs a fenced in yard that she can patrol for varmints! She is doing great with a doggie door but if you don’t have one then you’ll need to keep her on a schedule to keep her from having accidents in the house. She is crate trained. Would do best with another young dog to keep her company, busy and playing. She does NOT like cats so people with cats should not apply. Don’t let this sweet girl go without a home long.
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.
If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $35 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.
If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options. If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an Application.
More about MACY...CT
Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
