Misty is a beautiful 6 year old girl who is very loving. Her life started out as a breeder dog but was surrendered to AADR with several other of her brothers and sisters. Misty has a heart of gold and just wants to be loved. She is still a little skittish but we are having the joy of seeing more of her spunky and loving personality every day! Misty would do great in a home that allows her to cuddle in a lap. Misty seems to adjust well to new situations but would do best with older children that don’t run around and would scare her. She is so loyal and well behaved. She is a wonderful companion and only wishes to be loved and to be by your side! (ok and maybe a treat now and then too....She even has a little dance for that!)
Misty is great with other dogs and really enjoys playing with them. She probably would be ok as an only dog as well if someone stayed at home during the day that could really spend time with her. Otherwise, another small dog in the home is a must.
Misty will just melt your heart and has a one of a kind personality. She is a great listener too and will tilt her head back and forth as you talk to her. Misty loves to be part of the family and will be your little shadow..anything to be by her person! Won't you show Misty that there is a family out there just for her??
More about Misty
Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
