FOSTER HOME (NAME, CITY & STATE, ZIP, EMAIL)  Kathleen Burnsville, NC 28714  KSioui@Hotmail.com

Levi is a very handsome young fellow with a sweet playful personality.  He likes most people, but is sometimes very afraid of certain people, so his adopters should meet Levi before choosing him.  He should go to a home with no small children, but older children would be fine.  He gets along very well with other dogs and sleeps happily in a crate by foster mom's bed at night.  He walks well on a leash and enjoys strolls around the neighborhood.
Levi is low heartworm positive.  He is being treated with a monthly Heartgard pill.  He will need to be rechecked for heartworms in one year and if still positive continue monthly Heartgard with annual rechecks until results are negative.  This treatment is effective and less stressful for dogs that show low level infection.

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
