We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.

BIO:   Dancing Dieter lives up to his name by running ahead of you and dancing in circles when he is happy to see you.   He is a gentle, loving dog who is learning to accept human affection quickly .   He has learned that being picked up is ok and holding is comforting and actually seeks attention on his own now and has learned the concept of kisses and   given a few kisses to his foster mom.   He does not understand the concept of sleeping on foster mom’s bed and prefers his crate and sleeps from about 8 pm until 7-8 am.   Dieter is a good listener and redirects easily when his name is called; he will come to you when called.   Dieter seems not to have been allowed to eat enough in the group of dogs he was raised in, thus is thin and enjoys his food, but is NOT food aggressive which is a HUGE indication of his true gentle nature.   He is intrigued by the cats in his foster home, but behaves well with them.   He plays with his foster Doxie sister and has learned that toys are fun and squeak. Dieter has a beautiful sweet face with one solid black ear and eye and the other black and white ear and white eye with a few spots of brown mingled in.   Although Dieter is a mature adult at the age of 7, he is energetic and playful and loves to run and play outside.   He seems to be intimidated/frightened by the leash and will not come to foster mom with leash visible, but should be picked up and taken to the leash; once on leash, he is a model walker and walks nicely without pulling.   Dieter is heartworm positive and has a couple more vetting chores to complete, so will be available for adoption after a treatment plan is established.   He will undoubtedly become a vital companion to some lucky person whose life will be enriched by his presence ten fold!!

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $35 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.   We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.   Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options.   If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an Application .

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
