Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteer that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast. Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

BIO: Harley came to us with his dad Otis. It is pretty obvious that these two have been together for a while. Harley will lie with his dad, but he does great with the other puppers in the house as well. While it would be good to see him and Otis go together, they would do fine apart from each other as long as Harley can have some other buddies to play with. He would do well as the only dog, but would need his new family to lavish him with the attention and love he has earned and deserves. He still has a lot of puppy energy and attitude left, but this is in a good way. He gets along great with all of his foster brothers and sisters. He loves to play, romp, roll, and wrestle with all of them. This little guy is a bundle of snuggle and love. He is right in the mix of our other doggies to give his welcome home kisses and nuzzles. In fact he has his own game to see if he can give you at least one million “Harley Kisses” each time you see him. He may not get that close, but that just means he has to start over every time. He loves to be brushed and will gladly lay there and let you brush and rub him as long as you want to. When he is outside playing, if he gets too hot, it’s time to head over to the kiddie pool for a quick dip to cool off. Then it’s back to bird chasing, ball chasing, or dog wrestling or maybe just to follow you around to see what you are doing. If you are settled down, he will lie right next to you or in your lap and just snuggle right next to you and will try to get a few more “Harley Kisses” in. He is real good about lying on the blankets too if that is where you want him to be. Just know that the minute you give him the “thumbs up” he will be in your lap at the speed of light. He is proved to be great with kids. In fact, he sleeps with our little girl in her bed at night time. He is very lovable towards her and at bed time settles in next to her for story time as well. He does well at feeding time. However, we do feed him in his own bowl to prevent any “disagreements” about who is eating whose puppy food. Play time outside this boy is a joy to watch. He will run and bark with his brothers and sisters taking the tumbles and rolls in stride. This little boy is just willing and waiting for someone to give all of his love to. This little standard boy has tons of weight in love to give back to any family that will give him love and attention back. While he and Otis are connected since they have been together for a while, they could probably do well apart from each other. It would be best for Harley to go to a home that has a home with other puppers to run and play with as he has a ton of energy to burn off. This little guy just needs a forever home that will love him and keep him safe. In return you will get a friend that will love you without conditions and give you all the love he has to give back to you. Give this guy the chance to prove that lots of love does come in “standard” packages. If you are willing to do that you get one of the most “snuggleable and lovable” buddies you could ever ask for. He will only ask that he be allowed to love you back.

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
