BIO:
SISSY was turned over to us by her owner because she was going thru a divorce and just could not keep them. She was turned over with her brothers TUCKER and GUS. Their mom is a pure bred black and tan dachshund and the daddy is a red beagle mix. They have all the dachshund traits but just are a little bigger and longer legged than a dachshund. Having the longer legs means they won't have a back issue that the dachshunds have. SISSY is a little whinier than the boys but is just as sweet. . Likes to play but is not wild like some pups can be. She'll settle down and sleep in the same room you're in and seems more bonded to TUCKER than GUS. She would definitely need another dog to keep her company while you are gone. She was the last to learn the doggie door but after watching the other fosters she now goes in and out like she knows what she's doing. We think that she would also do best with a fenced in yard to use up some of the puppy energy that she has. She likes to sleep all night long in the big bed. These pups are very sweet with no issues and are well on their way to being completely house broken. SISSY will probably not be more than 14 or less pounds when full grown. The boys could be a little bigger but none of them will be over 20 lbs.
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.
More about SISSY-3...MA
Good with Dogs, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
