BIO: Shamus would melt any dog lover’s heart. He is handsome, happy, sweet, obedient, well trained (knows commands….i.e. sit, give me your paw, lay down, etc.), housebroken, is great on a leash and loves, loves, loves go for rides. Shamus is an owner surrender and was well taken care of by his previous owner. Unfortunately, once the previous owner had a baby Shamus had to go for various reasons. Shamus is definitely a lap dog. He loves all the attention he can get and gives you tons of love in return. He is good with other animals which includes cats. Anyone would be lucky to have this little lover as an addition to their household.

More about Shamus...CANADA

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
