MILO came from a breeder that decided it was time to retire him and send him on to a forever home. MILO is very shy at first but given time he does warm up and becomes very friendly. Milo is very cute. He gets along with most males and all female dogs so a home with 1 or 2 other dachshunds would be great so he could learn to be a pet and how to be spoiled. He also needs a fenced- in yard so he can run and play outside when he wants. He will use the doggie door to go outside to pottie but likes it better when you go out with him. We say no kids because we think they would make him too nervous with running and screaming. Cats we don’t know about. MILO is looking for the right forever home that will give him the love and attention he needs to know that he is to be spoiled, is that your kind of home you are?? Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
