FOSTER HOME (NAME, CITY & STATE, ZIP, EMAIL) Stephanie, Huntsville, Alabama, smburmei@comcast.net

Heidi is a beautiful, sweet little girl who was adopted as an adult from a breeder by an older couple. At their home, Heidi had a very hard time understanding housetraining manners because she had no scent to tell her where to go. So, she had lots of potty accidents. Out of frustration, they turned Heidi in to rescue and they knew we would find the right home for her. BUT, she came to her foster mom’s house where there are lots of other nicely mannered doxies, and she went to potty in the yard like a perfect young lady. So, we think Heidi will need another dog to show her where she should potty and she certainly enjoys the company of another dog.

Heidi needs to find a family with lots of patience to make sure housetraining manners are consistently enforced with praise and TREATS. She is a calm, loving girl and will add a ray of sunshine to your home and warm your heart with LOVE!!!

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $35 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
