BEING FOSTERED IN B'HAM, AL


Hilda was one of the LA dogs given to us because the health and age of her owners prevented them from keeping their dogs. Hilda came with three dapple babies. Now that the babies are gone, Hilda is ready to start looking for a forever home of her own. She's a very sweet and loving girl. She wants to be right up close to you and has a way of putting her head on your lap and looking up at you that will melt your heart. She was loved in her first home so she trusts people to care for her and expects love in return. Hilda has now been spayed and had a dental. Unfortunately, she lost a few teeth but eats dry food. I think Hilda might like to be an only dog so she can get ALL the attention but she gets along well with the males and females. She has had good manners and uses the doggie door. At eight years old, she is only about half way through her life so she has lots of time to play and be loved. Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
