If you are looking for a sweet, loving, gentle-natured lap dog, Luke will suit you perfectly. He loves to be near his person--he’s not demanding, just loves to be near you. Luke has one of the best doxie dispositions EVER. He loves his new foster brothers and sisters and his new foster parents, both mom and dad. He’s even good with cats and little kids and housetrained, too! Luke is a calm, easy-going guy with no behavioral issues!!! OK, maybe one little issue—he doesn’t like to be crated. But, his foster mom just leaves him in the den with baby gates while she’s away, and he naps with the others. Not a problem. Luke loves, loves, loves to sleep in the big bed and is an FIVE STAR snuggler and quietly sleeps the night away! He’s got a coat that is soft as velvet---just stroking his head and rubbing his ears are better than any sleeping pill.
Luke was given to rescue by a breeder and it’s time that he enjoys life as a pampered lap pup. He will be neutered, microchipped and be ready for his forever home at the end of February. Luke has a ruptured salivary gland that will need to be aspirated about every 2 months. This is a condition that Luke will live with for the rest of his life and the cost to have a vet drain it periodically is minimal. Luke’s adoption fee is slightly reduced to help compensate for the need for on-going vet care. It causes Luke no discomfort or pain and has no associated health risks whatsoever. The surgery to remove the gland is very delicate and risky, so it is better leaving it alone. Luke will live a long, happy, healthy life without any problems from this condition. The only side effect is a stretched pouch of skin under his chin—a bit like a little turkey. His foster mom thinks it just gives him a little character! He’s so sweet and loving that you’ll think you’ve got the best dachshund on the face of the earth, even if his physical appearance isn’t perfect!
Feel free to email his foster mom with questions or to ask for more pictures.
