BIO:  Little Rascal is the sweetest dog.  He is a retired breeding dog, but despite his past, he does not have a shy bone in his body.  Rascal loves to be with people and has never met a stranger.  His little tail is always in motion.  He is a short-legged, wiry little guy.  He is a light reddish brown color with a white patch on his chest, a small white spot on his head, and a prematurely graying muzzle that gives him an air of sophistication.

Rasky walks well on a leash and is progressing well with his house training.  He is crate trained, but does bark some, so would not do well in an apartment.  He likes to run around the house, play with the other dogs, and gnaw on Nylabones.  Rascal’s favorite place to be is in somebody’s lap.  Because of his small size, he would do best in a home with adults only or older children who understand that he needs his space.

Rascal is a super happy and affectionate little guy and would love to be your new best friend.

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $25 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options.  If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an Application.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
