BIO: Dutchess is a fun and playful girl who had an extremely abusive past. For all the pain and heartache she has felt in her first years of life, she is very forgiving and extremely easy going. She bonds quickly with females and with time and yummy treats; she will bond with a male also. Dutchess is a dachshund mix with the attitude and trainability of a Labrador. She knows many basic commands and has now added “shake” and “high five” to her repertoire. She loves to run and play with other dogs and get along well with cats too! She is not aggressive and will do well with children and other animals. Because of her abusive history she would do better in a home with another dog that she could bond with. Dutchess is a wonderful companion and any dog lover would be lucky to have her in their life. Guaranteed you will fall in love with her instantly!

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $25 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options.  If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an Application.

More about Dutchess....MA

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
