Looking for a FL adopter
Meet Wren ... she’s an itsy, bitsy, teenie weenie! LOL Yup, 8 lbs. of adorable purebred doxie love in a little bundle of happiness! Wren’s entire body wiggles when she is excited, not just her tail. Besides being the happiest girl around, she is also drop dead gorgeous with rare Isabella and Tan Dapple coloring and piebald markings. She is a LONG HAIR doxie, but her coat was cut short before coming into rescue so it will be exciting to see her with a full-grown coat. Should be SPECTACULAR!!!
Wren was surrendered by a breeder in NC and is adjusting quite quickly to being a pet in her foster home. She loves the attention of her foster mom and gets along well with her foster brothers and sisters. Truthfully, she would be fine as an only dog since being with her person is her favorite form of companionship. She loves giving you little kisses during lap time, too.
Just like the tiny bird she is named for, Wren is very petite but has a very loud squawk/bark so NO shared walls in her adoptive home ... no apartments, condos, duplex, etc. We don’t want your neighbors to be upset when she announces the doorbell, etc. Since Wren has spent her life in a kennel setting, she is learning to potty outside on a schedule ... or sometimes she uses a pee pad inside the house. She sleeps through the night like a champ ... not a peep out of her! She has mastered walking on a leash very quickly. She is very smart and curious about her new surroundings ... loves to explore!
Here are the MUST HAVES for dear sweet little Wren:
- A fenced yard or lanai for her to safely potty
- A Florida adopter
- Someone home a lot to keep her on a schedule
- Another young small dog would be nice but not a deal breaker
- Someone with breeder experience preferred
- Someone with patience who will enjoy seeing her continue to grow into an AWESOME pet!
- NO shared walls ... no apartments, condos, duplexes, etc.
If you meet the requirements and want to add an adorable, sweet, tiny bundle of joy to your home, please fill out an application today! You will not be sorry!!!
============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.
If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.
There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.
We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.
To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
