Woman only adopter
BIO: Raven came to us from Alabama when he was surrendered by his owners because he barked at the man of the house and was not good with their two young children. Their solution to the dilemma was to throw him outside. Unfortunately for Raven, it was the middle of winter. Raven enjoys spending time outside in nice weather, but he also loves being inside lying on the couch or doggie bed if the weather is nasty. Even though he is no fan of inclement weather, Raven will go out in the rain to potty. What Dachshund do you know that will do that!?! What a guy!
Raven will be nervous around new people. His adopter must be someone experienced with unsocialized dogs and has the patience to work with him until he knows he’s finally in a home where he’ll be loved for who he is, not his beauty. Raven is so much more than just a pretty face.
Raven will probably not be great around strangers or young children but when he trusts you, he’s all yours. He’ll keep you warm at night and be your snuggle bunny on the couch. It will just take time and patience.
Are you ready to make this handsome boy a member of your family?
Our must haves for Raven are:
- A woman only home
- Another young, small, well-socialized dog for him to play with
- Fenced yard a must
- Someone who is home more than not to continue to work with him. For Raven to know you’re always there, will help him more than anything to adjust and gain his confidence.
- No apartments, condos, or high rises
If you are looking for that special man, ladies look no further. Raven just may be the guy for you and he’s waiting.
Have you sharpened your pencil yet? If not, get cracking. The ladies will be knocking down the door to get this boy.
============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.
If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.
There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.
We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.
To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
