BIO: If you are looking to spice up your life, these kiddos will be happy to oblige! Ember and Peanut are always up for an adventure or a good round of playtime. Never a dull moment with these two! They each came from different areas of Tennessee, but when they arrived in rescue, they quickly bonded and have since entertained us with their antics. They enjoy each other so much that we cannot bring ourselves to separate them. So, while it may take longer to find a family that wants to adopt two, we believe keeping these two little ones together is what is best for them.
Peanut is everyone's friend. Ember is more reserved and may bark at you at first, but she does warm up, especially if she sees her brother, Peanut, getting all the attention. They sleep all night together, cuddled in a doggie bed. They love to go out first thing in the morning and run like the wind in the fenced yard, and then they are ready to come in and have breakfast.
If you are looking for a ready-made family, this is the one. These pups love toys, but we have to say Peanut can kill a toy in no time. Ember just likes to keep the toys away from her brother. If you have any questions about these two wonderful pups, just email us. We are happy to answer them.
Our must-haves for adorable Ember and Peanut include:
- A fenced yard
- Someone who is home quite a bit
- Someone who can keep up with puppy energy and keep these two busy
- Someone who is young enough to care for them for the next 15-16 years
- No shared walls in living quarters due to possible barking
============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.
If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.
There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.
We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.
To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
