BIO: If you are looking for a good boy, Harley is your guy!
His people passed away, and AADR stepped up to help him find his ‘Furever Home’. We are so glad we did because Harley is such a great pup.
Harley just had a dental and lost all his teeth, but he's all healed now and lovin' his chow! Harley loves to run with the other dachshunds around the yard, investigating all the smells that the yard has to offer. He will even let us know if someone is coming too close.
Harley likes to sleep in his crate but would be very happy to sleep in the Big Bed. Harley hasn’t learned the doggie door yet, but we are keeping him on a schedule, and he hasn’t had any potty accidents in the house. Harley loves long walks... he has even met the neighbor’s big dogs and has no problems walking with them. He also hasn’t had any problems with the cats in the house. Harley is a small standard dachshund and has lost a couple of pounds, which is good for him. He really enjoys his walks and frequent walking will help him keep the weight off.
Our must-haves for handsome Harley include:
- A fenced yard
- A doggie door would be a plus
- Another small dog for him to buddy with
- No apartments, condos, or high-rises
Harley is a sweet, sweet guy after he gets comfortable in the home. Please consider Harley for your next doggie best friend!
============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.
If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.
There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.
We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.
To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
