BIO: Cuteness overload here! This precious little girl is named Patches. She was surrendered with two other dogs by a breeder in Georgia. Patches has always been with other dogs, so we’re hoping her adopter will have another adult or senior dog for her to pal around with and learn from. Patches is very tiny (less than 10 pounds) but she has a very BIG bark, so she would not be a good companion if your home has shared walls.
Patches needs a fenced yard to safely potty and play since she is still learning to walk comfortably on a leash. She had a few accidents when she first arrived in her foster home but is doing awesome now when taken outside on a schedule. She is very smart and has figured out the routine in her foster home super quickly. She is a true pleasure to foster!
Patches already has been on two transports (GA to TN and TN to FL), so we have promised her an adopter in Florida to avoid another long transport. We have no doubt that the perfect family is waiting for her here in FL!
Our must-haves for precious Patches include:
- An adopter in Florida
- Another adult or senior SMALL dog to keep her company if you are not home a lot
- A fenced yard
- No shared walls, so no high-rises or condos
============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.
If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.
There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.
To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
