PRECIOUS2 came from the Birmingham, AL area and came in with Dapple, they were owner turn-ins but are not a bonded pair. PRECIOUS2 has got to be one of the sweetest dachshunds there ever was. She is submissive to all dachshunds, not in your face demanding. Will take what ever attention you give her and be happy. She plays some with the other dachshund but is more of a couch potato or lap dog if you'll let her. One thing that she really enjoys is sleeping in the heated water-bed and hates to get up and out in the morning. She is not a barker but does love to wander the fenced in yard. She would be a great pet for a first time dachshund owner as she has no issues. She is used to the dogie door and would need a refresher course on going out side on a schedule but she is eager to please and treats would work wonders for her. She is however heart-worm positive but will be done with her treatments the 4th of Dec and can move on to her forever home. Please give her the home she so richly deserves.

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
