WILLOW came from Hattiesburg, MS as a stray and sadly is heartworm positive. She is currently going thru treatment and will be ready to go to her new home after 12/23 just in time for Christmas. She is very sweet and LOVES her people. Does not get along with all females so a home with a male dog/dachshund would be best. She does like to outside and explore the yard so a fenced yard is best for her to run off some of her energy. She loves to sleep in the big bed with her human family at night but cuddle up with the other dachshund fosters during the day. She is housebroken to a dogie door and crate trained. We think only kids over 10 would be best for WILLOW. Please consider giving her a home for Christimas so she can have something under the tree as well.

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

More about WILLOW....NY

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
