BIO:  Missy was surrendered from Alabama when her owner passed away. When she came to the rescue, she was confused, but she has now settled in. She is not a laid-back senior girl but has some spunk and pep to her step. So if you are looking for a dog to be just a lap dog, Missy might not be the dog for you, BUT if you are looking for a dog to help you in the yard or go for short walks, then Missy will fit into your home perfectly. She gets along with other dogs though we think she could be an only dog as well. If you are looking for a companion, then look no further you have found her!

Our must-haves for beautiful Missy include:

• A fenced yard as she does enjoy being out in the grass
• Possibly a brother or sister to pal with
• Someone who could be home at least late afternoon and evening
• Because she is vocal at times, no apartments, high-rises, or condos (shared walls)
• Someone willing to commit to helping her take off the rest of the weight she needs to lose

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.

There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered. 

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.
