BIO UPDATE from Tracy, Evie’s foster mom (9/19/2023):  Evie has been in her foster home for a little over eight weeks now, and she has developed quite the personality. To say she is a diva would not be an exaggeration. Evie loves her toys and her bed. She enjoys being brushed and pampered. But most of all, she loves to be with her foster family! She is on a strict schedule to help her feel secure. She will have potty accidents if not taken out regularly.

Evie will make a great addition to any family that is willing to work with her insecurities that come from being a puppy mill dog.  Miss Evie is worth it.

BIO:  Evie came to the rescue as a retired breeder dog. She is a beautiful girl who is full of energy. She has discovered toys and really enjoys playing with them! Evie loves playing outside supervised; she is not fond of her people getting far away from her.

She is very tiny (only 9 pounds), so she must be supervised around children. For this reason, there should be no children under nine years old. She must have a fenced yard, and she loves to ride in the car and likes short walks. Evie sleeps in the Big Bed with her treasured blanket. She requires softened/canned food after losing her teeth. This girl would make a wonderful addition to a loving home! Please contact her foster mom with any questions.

Our must-haves for pretty Miss Evie include:

  • A fenced yard
  • Someone who is patient and committed to helping her complete her house training and learn the things she needs to know to be a great pet
  • No female dogs. Another small young male dog preferred
  • Someone who is home a lot
  • Someone to help socialize her
  • No apartments, high-rises, or condos

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend.  We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest.  We just can't get them from one coast to the other.  Please look for dogs on your coast.
