Hi my name is Andy and I am 19 months old. Yes I am still a puppy full of energy but I do love to just lie around and relax. Since I have been with my foster mom I have experienced so many new things. I love to sleep on my donut pillow on the foot of her bed. Going for car rides is one of my favorite things.. The doggie door is such a neat thing. I can go in and out to potty when I want. I am great around other dogs but the big ones make me a little nervous. I do think I am the boss when someone new comes in to the house. Children are so sweet and lovable and I don’t have problems with them at all at any age. Smaller children are more on my level and don’t scare me at all. In the beginning I wanted to bark at cats I didn’t really know how to take them but now I don’t even notice they are around. I just need a loving forever family that will give me a warm place to play and sleep. Also some yummy healthy food for my tummy!! They didn’t feed me the best food where I was before. Thanks to Sherrie I have been able to come out of my shell and know that humans are my friends and this is the way that life is suppose to be.
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
