Milo is one of the most handsome young dachshunds you'll ever find! He was turned in to a local shelter after his owners were done with breeding him. We are so glad that Milo gets to start over with a new forever family that will love him and give him the life of a pampered pet, not a breeder. He is a sweet boy and has the gentle temperament that is characteristic of the long haired doxies. Milo is also a very small boy and weighs only about 10 pounds—we'll have to an exact weight on him, but he's definitely a mini. So, he'll need to go to a home with older children that know how to handle a small boy and keep him safe. He needs to gain about a pound and needs some good quality food to improve the quality of his coat. After dealing with the stress of being dumped at a shelter, the coat on his body could stand some TLC.
Milo is a true gem and would make a wonderful addition to just about any home. He is housetrained, crate trained, loves everybody he meets, doesn't bark too much, and walks well on a leash--could you ask for anything more?!!! He's only 3 years old and knows "NO" and is eager to please and, beingsuch a smart boy. we expect he will quickly adjust to new routines around his new home and learn new commands easily. If you' have a big heart that can heap unconditional love on a this specvial little boy, YOU can apply to adopt Milo. AND--you must be willing to give lots of belly rubs---his favorite thing! You'll be the center of his world for the rest of his life!
More about MILO....TN
Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
