Lucy and her best friend Desi were left in the drop box of a northwest Alabama shelter. They were probably a breeder pair and the breeder dumped them when they became too much of a bother. Our vet had barely taken Lucy out of her crate for her examination when he started saying what a wonderful pet she was going to make. They were both groomed while they were at the vets. The groomer shows dachshunds in confirmation trials. She stated that these two were very nice looking dachshunds. We will be finding out more about these two angels soon and will post updates as get to know them better if some very lucky family doesn't adopt them first. Won't you consider adopting this sweet girl? She promises to love you forever! Check out Desi's Bio also..they would love to be adopted together but they also can be adopted separately.

Good with Dogs
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
