BIO:  This little cutie didn't have the best start in life, but he's all about making up for that now!! Carter is a tiny little bundle of love and joy. He adores his foster brothers and would do best with another small dog, preferably another Dachshund, to play and cuddle with. He is the cutest, sweetest little boy, and with AKC Certified Pedigree papers, too! With those typical fat feet and short legs, he's a Dachshund through and through!!

Carter was an owner surrender, and after being thoroughly checked out by our vet, it was determined that he needed several teeth pulled. He is having that done soon, and once he heals, he will be ready for his forever home. He has been eating softened kibble due to the horrible condition of his teeth and will likely need to continue with that after having many of them pulled. Carter loves all his foster brothers (three small male dogs) and wants nothing more than to cuddle up with someone. He'll happily snuggle on the couch or in bed with you and doesn't mind at all being crated when you leave the house.

Our wishes for adorable Carter include:

  • A securely fenced yard
  • An adopter who is home a lot because he is very attached to his person and needs to maintain his potty schedule
  • No apartments since he may bark when left alone
  • Another small dog to keep him company
  • A house with no stairs or someone who is able to carry him up and down the stairs

This special boy deserves a wonderful new home and a very happy new life. Is that with you?? Email his foster mom for updates or more information.

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend.  We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest.  We just can't get them from one coast to the other.  Please look for dogs on your coast.
