BIO:  Nikki came from Alabama where she was picked up as a stray and taken to the shelter. We can’t imagine why anyone would want to lose or give up this sweet girl. She’s a little shy at first but warms quickly. She wants to play with the foster brother and sisters at the foster home but they aren’t into that, but she’ll play with people too! She’ll sleep all night in a dog bed but would love your bed if you’ll let her (what do you say)? 

Our must-haves for gorgeous Nikki include:

• A fenced yard
• Another young, small-to-medium dog to play with
• No apartments, high-rises, or condos as this girl loves to run circles in the yard
• Someone who can be gone only between 2-6 hours, any more than that and she gets restless

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.

There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered. 

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.
