BIO UPDATE (7/10/22):  This handsome boy is AKC registered as Patriot Prince Apollo, but nicknamed Aaron. He is a retired breeder dog who has learned that living in a home with people is the bomb! He LOVES being with his person! His favorite things are being in your lap (or cuddling beside you), climbing the steps/ramp to the couch if your lap isn’t available, and sleeping quietly all night on top of the covers at the foot of the bed. Told you he is 100% pet now! LOL! Oh, and he gives lots of kisses, too!

He has been in his FL foster home for 5 days and hasn’t barked, marked, or had an accident. He gets along with the three other doxies in the household but prefers to be with his person rather than with the other pups. He would do fine as an only dog, but we do want an adopter who is home a lot since he LOVES the attention and companionship of his person. He rides beautifully in the car tethered in his seat.

Our must-haves for dear Aaron include:

  • Another small, adult dog to learn from, although he can be an only dog if you are home a lot
  • A fenced yard or screened lanai
  • No apartment or high-rises
  • Someone who is home a good bit because he LOVES his person!

NOTE: FL adopter is preferred

Aaron is being fed softened diet kibble. He lost quite a few teeth due to a lack of dental care in the past and he needs to lose 1-2 lbs to be at his ideal weight. The good news is he didn’t lose his 4 canines and now his remaining teeth are bright white and shining. This little boy is a pure joy to foster! He gets along with the other dogs and loves lap time and belly rubs. He has a beautiful full soft coat and the cutest short little doxie legs. Almost forgot, Aaron really likes men!

This boy is truly a KEEPER! You can fill out an application using the link at the bottom of his bio page and then contact his foster mom if you have any questions about adopting Aaron.

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state where they are being fostered in.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or MidWest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
