BIO:  Flash was turned into a shelter in middle Tennessee because allegedly he bit a child. While we don’t know the circumstances, we are saying no children under the age of 12 years, including any visting children or grandchildren. Children in the home or visiting who meet the minimum age requirement must also be gentle and respectful of a dog's space.

Flash gets along with other dogs and cats and likes toys. He can also jump so don’t leave food laying around. He is fine being crated while you are gone and we think he’d do best with a buddy to pal around with.

He likes sleeping in the Big Bed but with just a couple of whimpers, he’ll sleep all night in a crate too. Because he is fast (hence the name Flash!), you must be very careful that he doesn’t bolt out an open door as he would be gone. This is also the main reason we are saying a fenced yard is a must.

Our must haves for this adorable fellow include:

  • A fenced yard
  • No apartments, high-rises, or condos
  • Another small buddy for him to hang with
  • Someone who willing to work with him on not jumping on tables, couches, and jumping down (not good for his back).

Flash has a good energy level so if you are looking for a hiking or walking/jogging buddy, then he's your guy! He also loves lap time and is a great snuggler.

You can’t go wrong with this sweet boy! Feel free to email his foster mom for more info on him.

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshunds back or get bitten.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

There will be an additional $55 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state they are being fostered in.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have an issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and MidWest. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
