BIO:  Bolt is an owner surrender from Tennessee. Not only is he gorgeous, he also has a great personality! Bolt has the energy of a puppy. He loves toys and playing with other dogs. Bolt is very affectionate and a lover of snuggling. He is a very happy dog!

Our absolute must haves (no exceptions, please) for sweet Bolt include:

  • Another small, young dog to play with
  • A fenced yard
  • Someone who can come home for lunch, gone for a few hours or works from home
  • No apartments or high-rises or condos

Bolt is a high energy dog that must have another small dog to play with to burn off that energy.  He MUST have a fenced in yard to run.  It is best that he does not go to a household with elderly dogs as he does not know his boundaries and he would jump all over them.  Bolt lives with three other dogs right now and does very good with them.  He plays and plays all day long.  Bolt does have some separation anxiety and will need help with that and that is another reason he needs a playmate.

Bolt does not like to be crated, so we would prefer he goes to a home that does not use crates.  He loves sleeping in the big bed under the covers.  He uses a doggy door right now and is happy that it is warming up here in Wisconsin!

Bolt is the sweetest dog.  He gives hugs and kisses and enjoys meeting new people.   He stands on his hind legs for treats!

If you fit these criteria, fill out an application!  Are you his forever home?

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state they are being fostered in.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have an issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
